Creating a Server
Ive decided as a summer project im goign to turn my old dell P4 2.63 Non HT, 256MB ram, 80 gig hdd machins into a server..mainly for storage, however i kinda want to be able to log into the server. I plan to reformat this system, my question is will i be able to do it with my windows XP Home with out just sharing the then entire C:\. If not want other OS do you sugest? And possibly maybe some hints as to how to accomplish this. I under stand the concpet of hooking a network up to a server but not creating a server. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you'd like to use that machine as a server and you have multiple home computers with personally critical info, take a look at Windows Home Server. You can buy the software at Newegg. Add a second hdd and WHS will back itself up to the second drive. It's a great way to provide Server storage/access with automatic backup to critical data - plus other features.
