new install, monitor settings Messed up

I just reinstalled an older gateway computer which came with the monitor I am currently using. I installed XP Home and when all was completed the monitor setting is huge. The problem is I can't seem to find the settings in the settings tab. No options to choose anything other than what is currently set. Has anyone experienced this before. There is a default monitor setting. That is all I know right now.

Thanks
Steve

Have you installed the drivers for your graphics card/on board video?

If you donnot know the make of your video card, do the following.

Start-->Run--- DXDIAG then hit enter
click the display tab and under device it will display the maker, name and chipset.

Go to the manufactures website and look for that exact cards drivers.

You have to look up that exact model on the Gateway site and download the video drivers.
