Boom windows explorer crashes for no reason

The problem is i have been trying to get into My Documents and then into a subfolder to run an application, but when i open the subfolder i get hit with an error message stating explorer.exe is not responding and needs to be shut down... in any case after it freaks out the window gets closed and im back as if i never opened My Docs.... any ideas? ive already deleted all the new downloads i have in there, and run multiple virus and spyware scans.
Any ideas?
