USB problem

Just tryin to figure out whats goin on with my USB sockets.Whenever i plug something in XP sees it but ALWAYS tells me it could run faster using USB 2.0 (which tells me everything i plug in must only be runnin at 1.0).On top of this i sometimes have to unplug stuff and plug it back in again to use it (almost as if XP has forgot its there) but once i do this i get the above message and i am away again.I would not have bothered normaly but after buying a nice new External HDD i would rather it ran at USB 2.0 as intended.Any help or ideas on this prob.Thanx in advance

Look at page 3-17 in your user manual. 3-22 also.

It is a setting for usb 2.0 compatible devices.

If I recall correctly, the USB off the backplate support USB 2 whilst the headers off the motherboard are only USB 1.

Just figured it out (i think)Your right i plugged it into the back plate USB sockets and i didn't get the (this device could run faster) pop up, But i have to admit i was also running them through a 4 port Hub but if i have it right the hub has to support 2.0 as well right?.Anyhow it appears to be runnin much quicker, the drive that is.So thanx for ya help.Just goes to show 5 heads are better than 1.
