Windows XP network log on log off loop

I am trying to log onto my computer using XP Pro. I type in the account password, then XP seems to allow access only to immmediately log off and return to the list of accounts. I have been doing this several times now, have restarted the computer and no changes. Used to work fine and now like this. HIs connected to a wireless network. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Machine: 1G RAM, AMD 2600+, 80G HDD

Did you try all of the account? Also did you boot into safemode and scan for virus?

Pull the hard drive and put it in another computer and scan it for viruses.

OK I pulled the HDD from the bad computer, hooked it up to another and ran a virus scan. Bingo! It found a virus which infected the useredit file. I replaced that file with a good one and it still does the same thing. I want to boot from my XP CD or enter my BIOS or enter safe mode and I can't because for some reason my keyboard won't respond. The keyboard works fine at the log on prompt. I am at a loss. Thanks
