Windows XP standby problem

Hi,

My laptop model is Compaq Presario 2540AP. I've just reinstalled Windows XP Home on it and now I can no longer use the Standby mode properly. When I put the computer on Standby mode, Windows says "Entering Standby mode" or something like that, then the screen turns off but the computer is still on, i.e the fan is still running. I've also installed some drivers for VGA, touchpad etc and I'm not sure whether that's related to the Standby problem. I'll really appreciate if anyone can help. Thanks a lot.
