You can get into the registry by:
Start Run regedit However, be careful what you do in there. The best way to check for malware is with malware scanners. |

If you still have problems after using scanners, then a program called HijackThis can be used with the help of a schooled adviser.

thanks law99.sorry i had to leave for a while.i had a malware problem a few days ago.it kept popping up saying i had infections.only way to get rid of them was to buy this product.wrote down all infections, some high threat some low.they were in registry, memory, files.for instance(new.net.domain.plugin)registry.not sure if this is phony or not.ended up doing a restore to last good configuration.seems to have gotten rid of this crap, but if this did not work it would be good to know how to identify and delete if possible through regedit.what does anybody think?would these type of infections show up somewhere so i can delete them?

I don't think there is a simple post to make someone a malware expert.
HJT & a adviser can do wonders. You could do the schooling & then help us with problems, it is free but intense. Use at your own risk! http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=38752 http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=3624 Last edited by law99; 05-15-2008 at 10:25 PM. |

Use KNOWN LEGITIMATE malware scanners, not just any old thing that pops up on your screen.
