OS: Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 Acer Desktop PC Pentium D CPU Looks like a possible ECS Motherboard? Purple board 1 GB RAM 160 GB Hard Drive Client reports system restarting at random a few days ago. Arrived on site and disabled automatic restart. Doesn't seem to be during any special functions, mostly random. Her computer is used for accounting software via VPN and some office tasks. Her system looks very clean with only a dozen things in add/remove. Not suspecting any spyware or virus infection. I left a memtest.org cd in over night, no errors. I dusted out the CPU heat sync because it was in the high 60's celsius after running prime95. Left computer running with the side off the case to rule out heat issues. I did a little research on google. Looking like a memory leak perhaps. Could also be a lack of power so I am going to try a known good power supply. Perhaps hard drive diagnistics and updating device drivers. Any sugestions? |
