Windows Repair?

Is there a way to repair a windows installation without having to wipe everything out and re-install? My computer is no longer able to boot from the hard drive and booting it from the disk does not seem to give me a repair only option. THanks.

Tried that process. I ran into a problem when I tried to re-load windows. I have 4 hard drives in a RAID 0+1 configurations. When I got to the point where windows would be installed it saw the drives but didn't see any partitions so it asked to create them I think doing this would wipe out the hard drives, right.

Did you press F6 and put the raid controller driver floppy in?

No. Seems obvious now. I will out of town for a few days but will try that this weekend. Thanks!

I put in the floppy and was able to get to the next step. However, windows seemed to recognize 3 of the 4 drives and went to a dark blue screen saying it had to shut down. In the post screen all 4 drives are recognized. Time to clear everything and start over?Upgrade to a quad core?

Time to run manufacturer's diagnostics on the drives. Sounds like you have one defective drive.

Your issue is not uncommon - RAID 0+1 is not all it's cracked up to be. Lose a drive and recovery can be difficult to impossible.

Where do I get the diagnostic tools and how do I run them without an OS. Can they be run from the post screens? If I can repair the RAID and get things up and running that would be ideal.

Hard drive diagnostics run from bootable floppies or CD's. You download them from the hard drive manufacturer's website.
