splat XP help

I have an HP laptop that has windows XP. I always here folks saying back up before you do anything. Can you make a back up of XP ?

I did not get a copy of XP when I got the laptop.

any ideas what to do if I should mess up XP.

I want to add Linux to my laptop >>

I believe hp's have a recovery partition.

That will allow you to revert windows to how it was when you bought it.

Just don't delete that partition.
