greedo Video adapter trouibleshooting

I recently swapped out my ATX case for a new one. The old one had some ground plane issues. The new one, which is a Rosewill, is very nice. Easy to work with and very well built. However, now during start-up I am getting the dreaded blue screen of death with an error.

The error in question is STOP 0x000007E (0xC0000005 , 0xF6131E09 which if I am reading it correctly then I am having video adapter problems. This error is coming from my primary video card (ATI 9800 Pro) and I am only able to work with my secondary video display which is a Nvidea card.

So, I am going to begin troubleshooting this week. Here are my plans.
  • verify that the ATI card is installed correctly
  • remove all uneeded devices
  • remove drivers?

Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Uninstall the Nvidia drivers and remove the Nvidia card from the case. See what that does.

I am sorry I need to clarify. The Nvidia card and drivers were also installed and functional in the old case. The ATI card is in the AGP slot. Could the fact that I put the Nvidia card in a different slot have caused a conflict?

Either way your suggestion is still to remove the Nvidia card? I will try this evening.

Thanks.

Yes, you need to get your primary adapter working first.

If you want dual monitors, it's a lot better to get a new AGP card with dual heads instead of trying to get 2 dissimilar cards working together. You can find new dual head AGP's that will outperform your 9800 and whatever PCI card you have for well under 100 bucks.

Thanks glc. I don't really understand 100% why it worked once I removed the secondary card but it did. I went ahead and left it out of the system as the ATI card has been running rather well for the most part.

Probably a resource or driver conflict. You are much better off with a single multiple head card.
