xms driver? miracle c...

I just took miracle c off my windows 98 computer and installed it onto a windows xp. Everything seemed to work, it compiled and built the program fine but when I ran the program it pulls up the dos box and says "extended memory detected, xms driver not installed"
I've searched for xms drivers and haven't had too much luck with fixing the problem. I'm just starting to learn my first language so i'm not the brightest with troubleshooting issues like these. Thanks.

don't mean to sound ignorant but how do I get to exe? I tryed to download codeblocks but it's too technical, I haven't had too much luck with a simple compiler to learn c. Miracle c was working for me pretty good till I switched computers...

What are you doing to run the program - you are clicking on a file that has the .exe extension, right?

Seems to me that compilers build executables.

You need to go into your folder options and uncheck the box to hide extensions for known file types - one of the first things you need to learn if you want to be a programmer is file extensions.

I found and unchecked the box but it's still doing it. I've been trying other compilers and have had the worst luck, I just tryed gcc and I can't understand it either, with the manual. I followed the instructions in the manual for their own test prog and it don't work. I'm stumped. I've tryed dev c++, codeblocks, borland, and gcc now and I can't get them to work. I knew learning programming would be difficult but this compiler problem has put me on hold for over a week now...

I just downloaded lcc and it's working. I guess i'll run with that until I get more familiar with everything. I appreciate the help and patience. I'm trying to learn more about operating systems so hopefully that'll help.

Now - have you tried running any of those executables you have compiled in compatibility mode?

No, I haven't learned anything about compatability mode. I'm not sure what that is yet...

1. Using Windows Explorer, right click on the executable file.
2. Select Properties from the popup menu.
3. Look on the "Compatibility" tab.

found compatability mode...

I found the right file and switched it around every wich way I could but no luck. I tryed to e-mail the author but no luck, the e-mail doesn't exist anymore. The compiler that i'm using, lcc, has some issues I think, I'm shown on a tutorial for c that I should be able to add integers with floats or doubles, and the compiler should convert the sum to the most precision, a fraction-float or double, but the compiler doesn't recognize this...
I'm sure i need to just deal with it and keep searching for answers online till I figure everything out instead of bothering people with juvenile question's, I appreciate the help GLC. I need to just get up some cash and get a computer thats worth while and go from there, they're both like 10 years old.

Running XP on a 10 year old computer is pretty rough.
