OPK - do I need it?

I bought an OEM version of XP Home and it says it doesn't include OPK -- do I need OPK to install it on a single computer?

I don't know what "pre-installing" is - thought you just built the thing, and loaded the OS.

I haven't built a system for a couple of years, but am hoping to build an HTPC-

Oem Preinstallation Kits allow computer sellers to customize their builds to show their brand name on start up and various other features. None of these are really necessary or desirable for the personal builder/user.
