Program Not responding during Install
I am trying to install my businesses software onto a new Acer computer. It runs XP Pro. But the installation always gets hung up on 60%. I tried the CD on another computer and it went fine. I don't have the specific specs on the Acer at the moment, but I know it is Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 80GB HDD. Any ideas on why this happens? I have tried installation about 5 times now and it always freezes at 60%. I have restarted it a number of times too. When I go to task manager it says "not responding." I have given it about 30 min after it gets stuck to see if it will continue, but it doesnt. The computer keeps working, I just have to "end" the not repsonding apps. Any ideas?

Acers ship with every piece of junk software in the world running at startup. One or more of those are probably conflicting, and you will have to systematically disable stuff.
An Acer is not the right computer to try to use for business. |

thanks. I tried the install on another new Acer with same specs and had the exact same problem. We bought Acer because the the supplier we have for TVs (we have a small electronics dept) sells Acer and Asus.

What I would do is get your hands on all the drivers you need, then wipe the thing out and reinstall XP with a generic CD with no added garbage.

I uninstalled a bunch of programs, mostly Acer stuff, and the installation went through. Do you still recommend reinstalling windows? And I assume you mean not using the version of XP that came with the computer. I just dont want to have more issues in the future; I'd rather do everything correctly now.

If uninstalling some crap fixed it, that's good enough.
