Help?
Ok. So for about an hour now I haven been trying to update my computer's BIOS......The computer I have is old its a Compaq Presario 5WV261 with Windows XP.....I downloaded the ROM Update from hp.com [http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=34204&lc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=93919&dlc=en]<<

Why are you trying to update your bios?
The floppy must be a BLANK floppy, not a startup disk. |

Because it hasnt been updated since ummm nov 2000?...........lol..........i dunno..............anyways I did try it blank also but it didnt work...in fact I tried that first......then I read somewhere I had to make the floppy Mdos bootable or whatever its called

It is not wise to try to update a bios unless you have a specific reason - on a Compaq I can't think of any issue that would apply. This is one of the things where "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies.
