Question XP Kind of slow switching users

Hello! My second build (see sig) is all good, but it usually takes a long time (like 20 sec) to switch users. The install of XP is fresh, but I do have all of the software loaded on there that my parents need (no extra bloat though). Should I upgrade RAM? Is my CPU not fast enough? Thanks

Could be the RAM. During that 20 seconds, is the hard drive working hard? Is ther a lot of processes running?

If you use fast user switching, you need a lot of ram. 1gb really isn't enough.

Well when I switch users, there is pretty little HDD activity. I dont think there are too many processes that are running, I mean I recently reformatted it and it only has the things that my parents absolutely need. So, if I upgrade from 1gb to 2gb, user switching will be faster? Guess that would make sense, just dont want to end up upgrading something that doesnt need to be. Thanks.

If the hard drive isn't thrashing, then RAM probably isn't the problem.

However, 2 gigs of DDR2 ram is only 40 bucks these days.
