OE Inbox Contents Lost

A friend keeps way too many emails in her Outlook Express Inbox - so many that she has to compact it occasionally. During her most recent compacting process, the power went out and she apparently lost its contents. I checked her DBX files and all seemed intact, but Inbox.dbx was way way too small.

I think I already know the answer to this question, but here goes anyway ... is there any way of getting those emails back? In the meantime, she's going to ask her ISP if they can extract them from their backups (they DO have backups, I'm sure).

She is now finally serious about getting a UPS, and I'm going to try to get her to be serious about putting her Inbox emails somewhere.

Thanks,
EdP

Did you look in the folder where the files are stored?
There might be an Inbox(1).dbx file which would be the original.

THe compact process also places a backup in the recycle bin....

Yup ... I did that before I made my original post. There was only one Inbox folder.
