Easy Question
Hi gang
I have an easy question for you all this time. When you download a program say from the Internet, it use to go through the complete process right there, the save, run, install. Now I save it and click on run and I have to go to where I installed it to to get the exe on it. I cannot do the complete install of the program I down loaded, right there. Do you think there is some thing I might have unknowingly changed.? Thanx and take care.....Gunny |

Sounds like you're downloading a .zip file, Gunny, or any other compressed type that needs extraction. If you download an .exe file, you should be able to click on it and it will immediately open for execution. The compressed ones need to be extracted first, often to a temp folder, before you can open the .exe or Setup file.

Hi Panama
No these are not zip files. Ya I know what you are saying, and a download use to go that way, the asking if you want English and what file/folder you want to put it in and all. But like I say I have to go to the folder and click on the folder, or exe file to get it to install. I have to make sure I remember where I wanted it to go, so I can go there and proceed with the install. I some times will get a program on a trial basis to see if I will really get some use out of it, and to see if I really want it. And I use to be able to go through the whole thing with out having to go to one of my drives, and find the folder that I saved it to. To complete the process. Thanx...Gunny |

Got any examples or links? I'd be willing to download a couple just to see what happens.

Hi Panama
I am using IE as my browser, and when I use to run a program I would get this second window pop up from IE asking if I wanted to run the program, well I don't get that second box opening up from IE. I checked my security settings, Internet options, etc and everything seems to be set the right settings. Just for an example I downloaded Spyware Doctor, clicked on the down load, and run and it downloaded and then I clicked on run again and instead of going to the extra IE widow to click on run it just sat there and the cursor went to that like I looking thing. And I let it set there for a bit to see if it was just actng slow, or some thing, but it never did do any thing else. Thanx...Gunny |

Is it the way the programmer has the download setup to install? Maybe more leaning to the "new" way?
Wild thought. |

Hi Law99
I don't exactly know what you mean by programmer except you mean the originator of the program.? But in answer to you, it don't make any difference what program I try to down load. I just picked out that Spy Doctor for an example. I just don't get that second box from IE and clicking on the second run. Try it yourself and when you get done with the download, and you click run you need to get the second box from IE to run it. I am not getting this. Thanx....Gunny |

Hi gang
And here I thought this was going to be an easy question. Is it the way I asked it.? Or my description of the problem.? Or does no one have an answer.? Thanx....Gunny |
