Pissed XP Media Center Install

I am reinstalling the OS using HP replacement discs for this machine.
I am getting this error message............

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311755

I have tried the shift+f10 with no response.
I looked at the cd and it seems to be damaged all along the outside 1/8".
Some kind of rub marks that do not clean off.
Question????????????
Do you think this is the problem?
The install was going ok until it hit this point.Stops with 39 minutes left to go.
When I reboot, it just keeps looping back to this point.
I used these discs to load the OS on this pc before.I fixed for this person last year.
Worked just fine.
Should I try to copy the cd and use that?
Error message as stated.
Have cd in player but nothing happens..
Any help is appreciated.
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks,
Dick

A damaged cd would be a bad thing. Contact HP and see if you can get a replacement.
