Angry Fire can't get xp pro sp2 to install

trying to install XP -Pro sp2 over the top of linux
the system is running fine fedora boots up every-time video is fine, I can surf the web, everything is kosher.
I put the xp install cd in the drive /reboot
it gets to the message ' hit any key to boot from cd"
I hit a key : then it says "checking hardware configuration " then nothing
black screen for ever

I have never had this happen before??

Kinda stumped , willing to try most anything

Use a linux live cd to try and delete the partition on the drive, and then format it that way. (Gparted)

Send a message via AIM to Panama Red
Can you "see" the drive if you try to format with something like DBAN from the UBCD?

thanks, the 98 se install disk trick worked.
have bee fighting this thing for 1/2 a day. it's midnight and the install of SP3 is just wraping up.
next item is to get the Cuda drivers from Nvidia. slap a new card in and start crunching numbers before going to bed.

I printed out the page from your blog, & it's going into my note book.
I have 3 more Linux boxes to change over in the next month

thanks again
