need help fixing my xp

ok so my laptop is rather new it has xp installed but it took a few minutes to boot up, so i did some google seraching on how to make boot up time faster

so i found a couple of things and i did it then when i restarted the computer i lost all my internet conenctions and when i go to make a new connection it says theres no drivers.. i dont even have windows wireless configuration thing, and i dont even have the little pc icons on the bottom right corner that says your connected to the internet or not with the red x thing, or the icon where you right click then view all available wirelss networks i dont have that either

then on top it i dont have the windows xp display option anymore, under appearance section the option for windows xp style isnt there anymore its only the windows classic style so that is gone now to

also i have no sounds either like the windows log on or log off none of those sounds work this is ridiculous..

ok so this is what i did when i think i screwed it up.. i went to Start>run>msconfig, and under the general tab theres normal startup, and diagnostic starup and selective startup so i fiddled with that, then i also.. did this... http://www.lockergnome.com/ss3luke/2...-xp-and-vista/ i restarted the computer and all this mess happened, so i went back and changed everything back to what it was before and then i restarted it and i still dont have everything back again.. can someone please help me out here

i should have never touched anything.. and also i dont have any cds that came with the computer no books nothing, i hope that i dont need any of that stuff

Hi STC1709,

Have you tried a System Restore?
Start> All Programs > Accessories >System Tools> System Restore.
Click "Restore my Computer to an Earlier Time".
Then pick a time before you tried all this .
Hope it works.
