Bought a license for already installed XP Pro- how do I validate it?
Ok, I have been using someone else's XP Pro for a year and just bought a license for it.
I cannot upgrade Windows Media Player until it is validated. How do I apply my license key to make it all work? The Windows Product Key Update Tool say it could not be updated.

Try using this to change the key:
http://magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ If it doesn't work, your license key is not for the same version of XP that's installed. |

Can't see where Magic Jelly Bean allows me to change key, it only finds it.

It won't open. First it is read as a malicious program then it fails to open.

The resident shield alert says Potentially Unwanted Program... Something about Hack Tool. EEG
I told it to ignore but then Win Rar says: Cannot execute "C:\DOCUME~1\webjoy\LOCALS~1\Temp\Rar$EX01.703\keyfinder.exe" and 7Zip says incorrect command line My digital life... Jeez, I just might nuke my hard drive and start all over.... Last edited by TimPoet; 08-24-2008 at 07:29 PM. Reason: disgusted |

Also, if you're trying to change the license key and activate XP ring/telephone them; don't do it online as it never works correctly - at least in my experience. |

Once you get the key changed, it should activate online.
