Problem with my Power Options
I had to reformat my hard drive and I just got done reinstalling Windows and I just installed my Powerchute software for my APC Backup UPS. But something is wrong. After I install the software, when I go into Power Options I should be able to see this listed:
Turn off monitor: Turn off hard disks: System Standby: System Hibernates: But for some reason I only see the top two, so it looks like this: Turn off monitor: Turn off hard disks: And then after I installed the Powerchute software a message came on the screen saying "Powerchute has detected that hibernation support is not enabled on your computer...". I've installed this software many times before I do not remember seeing this particular message before after installing and rebooting my computer. I uninstalled and then reinstalled Powerchute but it did not fix the problem. I don't get why the System Standby and System Hibernates options are not being listed. And I need them to be listed to get my settings where I want. Also when hit the Turn off Computer button, the Standby option is greyed out. So it seems as though the whole Standby/Hibernate option has been turned off on my machine. I also went into the BIOS and looked to see if there was anything in there said pertained to Hibernation or Standby, but I didn't see any reference in there. I had a really bad spyware infestation so I had to reformat. It was so bad that I could not boot into the default administrator account and I could not reboot windows either. And my NOD 32 kinda failed me. I got the Intel DP35DP board. Last edited by 357mag; 08-25-2008 at 10:20 PM. |

Have you reinstalled all the drivers from the Intel CD?

I got it figured out. The problem was that I didn't install my video card driver before I installed Powerchute. For whatever reason, there is a connection between the video card driver and the Power Options. It even says so on the Microsoft site. If you are using just a default VGA driver, then the Power Options will not correctly display. Once I installed my regular driver, everything was okay.
