Windows XP Home/Pro

Hope this isn't a duplicate post, but I can't find it so:

I am about to get a new computer and want to stay with Windows XP Home, or Pro.

I heard somewhere that XP only supports up to 2gb of memory. Is that true? I am thinking of going with 4gb.

Thanks for your response.

32-bit versions support 4GB of memory, however, they can usually only reference 3.25GB to 3.5GB. There was a 64-bit version of XP that could reference 4GB+. This is also the case with Vista 32-bit/64-bit. It's not an operating system version limitation, but more of a "behind the scenes" thing. To make a long story short, you can put 4GB in your XP machine (even it if is 32-bit) and it will be fine, you just may not be actually using all 4GB.

I'm having no issues with 4gb here on XP 32 bit - system properties shows 3.25gb.
