I think you need to be able to get into Windows to uninstall it.

Is there anything else that you changed recently that could have caused this issue, I have worked on 25 systems, installed SP3 on all of them and have not had any issues with any of them with SP3 installed. These are all different makes and models. What is your setup? Have you tweaked your registry at all? |

This sounds like the AMD bug.
If you have an AMD processor, you need to do this: Boot with a Windows XP CD and use the recovery console - type the following command at the C prompt: disable intelppm |

Or use this method. No need for XP cd.
When the system is first booting, press F8 to enter Windows' Safe Mode. Log into the Administrator acccount, click Start, Run, type cmd, and press Enter. When the command window opens, type the following command (don't forget the space after the equals sign, which is required): sc config intelppm start= disabled |

Try this as I have found it works. if your using a wireless keyboard mouse, just plug in a ps2 mouse and you will be able to boot right up to the desktop. Your wireless kb m will not be affected, and you can un-install sp3.

If I make a restore point before loading SP3 can I go back to a prior restore and load without SP3? or will I be stuck with it and whatever problems it may create?

Restore point won't help especially if you computer just keeps on rebooting and you can access the desktop.. I did find out from MS tech support that the issue with sp3 and amd has to do with the 54bit amd processors, they have a fix, and when I find where I wrote it down I will post it here..

DD, I already posted the fix. However, with an Intel processor, something else is wrong.

I loaded SP3 this morn and so far everything seems normal. One thing I tried to do and couldn't was disable NIS. I used to be able to do that with all the older versions of it as far as I can remember.
