Windows is Updated but WMP 11 will not install.

I just reformatted and have updated fully with Windows Updates. But I cannot install WMP 11.
Why do I need rollup 2 when I already have SP3 installed??

Thanks for that link! I did a Yahoo search and the info I found was that I would have to reinstall XP again but avoid the XP3 install until everything else is up to date.

You saved me a MAJOR headache!

I hope I'm not missing anything else. I can't believe Microsoft hasn't fixed this issue yet!

There is always the odd quirk here and there that MS doesn't always go back and address. Otherwise, support forums would get no traffic

Is there any info on whether WMP 11 is the ONLY component of Windows Updates that causes problems currently? I'm wondering if there is something else from Windows Updates I'm missing. I should have figured something was screwy when I went to Windows Update after finishing the MCE 2005 installation and it took me right to XP3. Perhaps it depends on which version of MCE you have?

This is what I have.

Thanks again.

The only official word that I'm aware of is that SP2 needs to be installed before SP3 on most editions of the media center.

Other than that, you can often google for most solutions when issues crop up, especially if an error message comes up.
