Ntldr Strikes Back

OK- woke up one morning to find my computer displaying the NTLDR missing press Ctrl-Alt-Del to reboot.

Researched online and found a simple download fix for it, burned it to a cd, and booted from cd. Well this gave me a list of 10 options to select ( they just said TRY THIS First, Second, etc) I tried the first one, and bam it loaded windows Xp right up. Problem fixed, for the time being.

after, I transferred the fix files off the cd to the root drive, I soon found out that this recovery was more of a band-aid than a permanent solution. When ever I booted up I still had to choose the fix options in the boot sequence to enter windows. I thought, I might want to back up all my important stuff, and re-format the drive , just to be safe.

I checked the manage disk area in windows, HDD showed up fine, although I couldnt format the same HDD I was running. So I figured I'd pull the XP CD out and boot from CD , install and wipe the partition in the process, like I had done many times before. Right?

Wrong! After it checked all the Hardware in the initial XP setup program, I got the Nasty-Gram saying windows couldnt detect a working HDD. Huh??? So I took the drive to my buddies house, plugged it in as a secondary, shows up fine in his PC, so we take the opputunity to format it then. We do.

I plug it back into my PC, and I get the same windows installation error ( cannot detect any working HDD) Bios, shows no Hard Drive. Get this.. I plug in my buddies working HDD to mine and it shows up fine, and boots fine.

WHAT IN THE NAME OF THE TECH_GODS IS GOING ON????

System specs, please. You probably need a drive controller driver on a floppy for the XP install to see the drive.
