Does anyone know which software that I can use to check the download speed of my internet connection?

I don't know about software, but there are dozens of websites that can do it. Speakeasy is a good one: http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ as well as http://www.speedtest.net/
This is a cool new one I found a few days ago: http://www.speed.io/index_en.html

I usually use speedtest.net
Note...this won't give you the absolute top download speed you have...but it'll give you a good idea of what you can usually get.
