MS Word vs Notepad
Greetings all!
One of my user accounts wont use Word to save docs. Instead, it saves in Notepad which I dont want. It also views and prints docs from Notepad. I have XP home and when the Office Suite that came with it expired after 90 days I installed Office Premium 2000 which works fine in my owner account and another user account. How can I switch to Word on this user account? Thanks... |

Are you saying that you CAN open w/ MS word, but it saves in Wordpad formats? I'll assumed .rtf
If yes, then it just something to do w/ your MS word setting. Specifically Default save to format I assumed. If your .doc, which often associated w/ MS Word, is opened w/ Wordpad then it might has to do w/ your File Association. You can manually re-associate them in CP/ Folder Option/ File Types. Usually if you instal MS Word, it would be obnoxious and auto-associate all the common file formats to be open w/ it. That should included .rtf, .doc, some others. Well, I know MS Word 07 does. |

I can open MS Word, create a document but when I save it it ends up as a notepad docement and reopens in notepad.
If I cut and paste anything of the web onto a Word Doc the same thing happens, so my documents folder is full of all wordpad- Thanks |

What file extension is it saving as? You need to uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" in your folder options.
In Word - Tools, Options, Save - what's it saving as by default? It should say "Word Document (.doc)". |
