Win 16 Subsystem-error

Just recently I have been getting an error when I open Quickbooks 2000. I have been running QB for several years with no problems. The error is:
Quote:
Win 16 Subsystem has insufficent resourses to continue running. Click on OK, close your applcations, and restart your machine.
Windows XP, SP2, P-4, 2.6, 512MB ram.

After a reboot, QB opens normally for a few times, then I get the error again.

If you don't want to buy the latest copy of QB, try running the program in Compatibility Mode (right-click on the program file, and then go to the Compatibility Mode tab). Reduce the colors to 256 colors, try different OSes, etc. until you get a combination that works.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think it's a compatibilty issue, since this version of QB has run on this setup for 5 years, and there have been no system changes when this started happening. It will still run fine after a reboot.

I think it has to do with "Win 16 Subsystem", which I don't know anything about.

I thought about un-installing & re-install the program, but I'm holding off on that for now.

Sorry for the delay in reporting back, but the problem went away for several days (go-figure). Then it came back. I read & did Method #2 of the knowledge base you pointed me to glc, and so far so good!
Thanks
