You can perform a Repair Installation with XP if you want to avoid losing all of your data. This will allow XP to see all of your new hardware and bootup properly.

However, it is always best to install Windows fresh when you have a new machine. Put everything together and then format and install Windows when the machine is running.

ya want a nice fresh start, so your saying, take the old stuff out, but the new stuff in, then boot it up from the disk the first time i turn it on with the new hardware in it? then partition the drive and reinstall right?
