I want to upgrade my OS from W2K to Win XP Pro...
Can I do this as an upgrade to W2K, or must I do a complete clean install? Thanks for any feedback. |

You can also upgrade with a generic OEM CD such as one bought from Newegg. You have to insert it in Windows, not boot with it.

Thanks for your responses.
BTW, Microsoft had a utility on its XP website called the Windows XP Upgrade Advisor. But it's no longer available for download at the Microsoft website. Is (or was) it a useful utility? If it is useful, where can I download a copy of it? Thanks |

What's the system specs? Unless it's at the very low end of 2K's accepatability and runs slower than a dog, it will probably run XP okay.

So it should RUN XP OK...but are there any particular issues to be aware of, in terms of
the upgrade install from W2K to XP Pro? |

It should install just like 2K did. However, you will have a much cleaner system if you save your data files and reformat, do a clean install and software reinstallation.
