Moved to the Windows XP forum.
If your Dell was sold after 7/2004 you have Symantec PC Restore. Simply press Ctrl+F11 at startup and you can reimage the hard drive back to the way it was when the PC was delivered. No CD's needed. |

I have two hard drives from my previous computer and external HD. Dell XPS computer melted down when a fan malfunctioned over a period of time. The computer tech from my office said the drive is fine and returned it to me, the tower was shot and I purchased a new Dell precision t1500 tower running windows 7 64 bit. I was told I would be able to read the drive on my new computer, but now the tech is hospitalized and unavailable, and I have two drives I need to access. How is this done when the drives are not in their cases that were used to read them. The drives are-
2-Western Digital WD5000AAJS WD Caviar SE from a Simple Tech External HD which was dropped and the housing damaged rendering it unable to power the drives to be read. Of course it is out of warranty. The dell drive are 2 2500 gb WD Caviar SATA drives. Both sets need to be plugged into something to be read what do I need? |
