Global Settings on W2K3
I need to set the default search engine in Firefox but I don't know how to do it for every user that logs in. I have a domain with AD. All the users are logging into the domain via Terminal Services via Sunray thin clients. I'm not sure how to set this kind of thing up. I read briefly about making the default profile changed to match what I want but that seems a complicated for such a small change. Anybody know how to change something like this?
Also, is there a way to change so that the domain is the default login location at the login? I think normally with a PC that just stays but since we are using Terminal Services it doesn't seem to stick.

What I usually do is create a new test user and set up all of the preferences for all the software and O/S on the client machine. Then, I just copy that profile to the default user profile. I usually need to start in safe mode to do the copy. When I'm done with all that, I finally clone/ghost/image that client to all the other PCs.
Works like a charm. Here's how to copy it over when you're finished setting the test user up: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=319974 But...in your case, this might end up being a little different with thin clients. Maybe it helps?

Well, I think it will work. All the users profiles are stored on the Terminal Server, so if I change the default profile all new users should have that. And we can copy parts to the already created ones.
That part is solvable, it might take a little more to get the default login working. |

I would think once you logon with the test user and the domain selected on the list, it would stick after a restart.
But...there is also a reg hack for it (do this on the test user) Go To HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion Winlogon create these string values: "DefaultDomainName"="YourDomain" "AltDefaultDomainName"="YourDomain" |
