Add the site to your "safe sites"
Click the Gear Icon and Tool (or Just "Tools" if you have the menu bar showing) > internet options go to the "security" tab, click the "trusted sites" icon, and click the "sites" button. Uncheck "require server verification". Now add the domain of the site (ie, hotmail.com)

Did you add the site it brings up to the safe sites list, or not?

Have tried but cannot find the aMSN part to put in there. I assume it is aMSN that is causing the problem as Hotmail on its own does not cause the problem to occur. I have got around problem at the moment but it means when i click on the aMSN envelope that comes up in task bar when there is a message instead of opening Hotmail, it brings up a sign in page for Hotmail. However if i click on Hotmail icon on my desktop Hotmail opens normally. Therefore i can use aMSN notification of new mails which was what i was after. I got around problem by IE,tools, internet options, advanced, and then putting a tick in the box that says: Allow active content to run in files on my computer.
