lost volume control
Running XP-Home--I still have the volume icon in the system tray, when I clck on it I get a box in the toolbar that says "volume" ....everything normal, right? The problem is when I click on the volume control the box is no where to be found on my desk top(s).
I run a two monitor setup and just recently disconnected a THIRD monitor (took out that graphics card too). Are the volume controls hiding in that third---phantom monitor? I forgot to delete the drivers before uninstalling it (and can't find them). I do a lot of recording from cassettes and really need the line in function in the volume control panel. The sound card is a SB Gold (it STILL rocks!!!). Thanks! |

Got it back
Brought up task manager...right clicked on Volume Control...selected "bring to front"...and it presented the volume control panel but it was an entire full screen window with the volume control in its normal size in the upper corner. It also would show not up in the second monitor if I dragged it (weird). I rebooted and now it works fine, is of normal size and can be dragged between the two monitors.
I think uninstalling the third monitor was the culprit (sound control panel was probably run last on that monitor). Anyway, all is joy now. |
