Weird Thumbnails in Explorer
Ok, I've never noticed this before, maybe it's from an update from microsoft, not sure. Here's a screenshot of it......
![]() what could be causing this, and what does it mean?

And i've noticed that it's showing the green check on the small versions. I have 2 sizes of the same pic. The exclamation point is on the full sized picture. These are all jpg's.

If you are running AVG 8, one of the components of AVG may be putting the check marks on the images after a scan. There's another thread where someone was getting the check marks on all their files.

Hmm, that's odd. I've been using AVG for years. It's never done this. Maybe it was from a recent update. Which is possible, because i usually only update the virus definitions, but this time updated everything. I wonder why it only scanned the smaller file though if that's the case. I'll try scanning one of the red !'s to see if it goes away.

Didn't go away. Surely there is an option somewhere to turn that off.

I saw these too after Mozy updated itself yesterday. Do you use Mozy Home for backups? I suspect those indicate whether your files are on Mozy or not. (Nice of Mozy to tell us that -- if it is indeed Mozy)

After doing some Googling, yeah, it looks like Mozy backup is one cause of it. If you are using that, you can turn it off by going to the Options and checking "Disable icon overlays in Windows Explorer". Could still possibly be something else though, because I found several pages with users saying they had the check marks and exclamaiton points and were NOT using the Mozy service.

ah hah! that's it. I do use Mozy. I recently reformatted, and when I installed mozy again, a new version must have been out that had that option. Now that I know that, I 'd rather have the checks than not. I have about 80 GB of photos I've taken, so it's good to see if something didn't get uploaded. Thanks a bunch for the help.
