How to clean install?

I just got an old custom built box with XP pro sp2. It is loaded with all kinds of good software. The os acts kinda squirlly though. The guy I got it from said it needed a clean install. He gave me the XP Pro cd, but no other instructions. I'd really like to keep a lot of the software thats already installed. Any help would be great.

A clean install will delete all the software. You will also need the key for that CD.

Thanks glc,
The key is on the cd case. Is a repair worth it? I don't have the setup/install discs for the installed software, but I don't want a lot of grief either. Hmm... Is it illegal for me to keep this software?
Thanks again,

Hello Ezy,
Sometimes the mouse and/or keyboard will freeze. Have to restart to get going again. Other times clicking on icons or files doesn't produce any activity. Windows explorer windows won't always close when the red 'x' is clicked. (have to right click on the item in the task bar) Stuff like that.

Do a Repair Install to fix the OS and you'll still have the extra software on there.
