BSOD in Windows XP Pro (SP 2)
Hey everyone:
I am once again suffering the unfortunate effects of Blue Screens of Death. I am getting a code of 0x000000A (0x0824639C, 0x0000001C, 0x0000001, 0x80544191) I have gotten the 0x000000A code a few times and then I have also gotten 0x000000D1 which was accompanied by a NDIS.sys. I have read that it has to do with a driver issue. I thought it was my linksys Wireless card that was causing the issues, but with that now uninstalled, I am still getting the BSODs. What I am seeing as a result of this problem is that my FireFox and Internet Explorer as well as other programs such as Ventrillo and Open Office constantly freeze and don't respond. Seems that they are getting worse and worse. I also get about 2-3 BSODs in about 3 hours of gaming. What have I done: --Memtest86 on ram ---> No errors --Cleaned my video drivers with Driver Cleaner Pro and installed lastest drivers. --Ran virus scan with AVG Internet Security Pro (Not the free version, I actually bought it) --Cleaned out malware, spyware with AdAware and Spybot. --Ran CCleaner After all this, I still am getting errors. Like I said, the freezing in programs is increasing and becoming quite aggravating. I am leaning towards a video card issue, but without another card to test, I can't say for sure. This card has already been replaced once, so I wouldn't be all that surprised if its the issue. I havn't installed or updated anything, so I can rule that out. Does anyone have an idea as to what is happening and what exactly those codes mean? My computer specs are in my sig. Thanks Chris

Correct me if I am wrong, but by installing SP3, the NDIS.sys file will be overwritten with a new version? I would take it that all my issues would be caused by the NDIS.sys ifile being corrupt for some unforeseen reason. What I am trying to come to terms with, is I haven't update SP2 since never, and this is the first time an issue such has this has arisen. In any event, when I get back from classes today, I will go ahead and install SP3.

**Update:
I have gone ahead and downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 as suggested. About 10 minutes after install, my Open Office locked up and I got a BSOD. 0x000000A (0xFFFFFFFF, 0X0000001C, 0x00000000, 0x804FABD8). This time it didn't say NDIS.sys, just the trouble code and thats it. I am perplexed now as to what exactly the issue is. Any other ideas? Seems as if the freezing has let up, but the BSOD's have not. Chris Last edited by Extremerc12; 11-03-2008 at 08:36 PM. |

What kind of peripherals do you have plugged into your PC? Perhaps unplug them one at a time to see if the BSODs stop? I have no idea what's causing your BSODs, but I was getting random stop errors until I discovered my cordless mouse was the cause.

At this point, I think I have done basically everything I can think of, short of reformatting to see if there is an error somewhere else. I have switched out video cards (I got a friends to try), taken out my Linksys Wireless internet card, my sound card, I have repaired windows, installed SP3. Seems as though something else, maybe some random file on my harddrive is conflicting and causing the BSODS.

Since I was unable to resolve the problem using any of the solutions from microsoft, I went ahead and reformatted my harddrive. I am still blue screening, with the code 0x0000008e (Win32K.sys). I have noticed that if I change a system setting, apply it and hit okay and then restart my computer, the setting revert back to what they were. I have gone ahead and checked out what microsoft has to say about the error and have yet to find any issues. I have hit rock bottom with this issue and I seriously have no idea where to go from here. Any other ideas?
Currently, I am running on one stick of ram (2gb stick), my 9600GT, harddrive, two dvd-rw drivers. My sound blaster is out and my wireless internet card is out. I am still getting BSODs. I am inclined to still think its the video card, but I am having trouble with ATI drivers installing properly on my computer, to try another card all together again.
