Need to remove XP from dual boot system with win98

I wanted to upgrade my dad's computer from Win98 to XP. I accidently bought and installed the OEM version of XP SP3 on a system with Win98 on it. Now the system is dual booting XP and Win98.

Is there any way to "remove/uninstall" XP from the system? (formatting the hard drive is not an option)

You can only do that if it was installed as an upgrade. If it was installed dual boot, that option is not available.

An OEM version could have been installed as an upgrade - by putting the CD in when in Windows. Booting with the CD does not allow it.
