Remote Desktop

When using remote desktop with WinXP, and you log in remotely, I know it locks the client computer so they cannot observe what you are doing. When you terminate the session is there a way to make the screen return to normal, so they don't have to enter the pass word again?

Thank you

You'll still have to log back in, such is the design of Remote Desktop (to my knowledge). If you log in with the same credentials as the currently logged in user, all applications/documents remain open in the session unless you close them yourself; however logging in as a different user will log that user off - just in case you weren't aware.

There are third-party applications which prevent this - and the user will be able to see what you are doing too.

I hope that helps.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply - ya, I have used LogmeIn and it allows the user on the other end to see what you are doing.......but, just wondered if there was a way to do this with Remote desktop....that does bring up an interesting point though, about changing users.

Thanks again -

logmein is more like VNC. Remote Desktop is its own proprietary Windows service.

Found this with a quick google search. No idea if it works or not:

Quote:
don't know how you can work this into your situation, but
I'll pass it along. The following command can be run on the
remote computer and it will leave the system unlocked with the
account that was used during the remote session logged on.

tscon.exe 0 /dest:console

I connect remotely to my XP Pro system using the credentials of
the main account on that machine. I created a batch file that
runs that command and placed it in the C:\Windows folder of the
remote computer. The batch file is named Disconnect.bat. I then
put a shortcut to the batch file in the All Users\Desktop
folder. I also changed the shortcut's icon to match the one for
"Turn Off Computer" on the Start menu.

Instead of closing the remote desktop connection on my local
computer, I double click the shortcut on the remote computer to
end the session.
