Non-Dell Windows???
Newbie post:
I'm in a forum for my car that has taught me more than I ever could've learned alone, and figured why not for my computer that I have a few questions about. I searched this question a bunch and couldn't find anything so I'm looking for some help. I've got a Dell. I know.... I've heard a lot about the Dell-pre-installed Xp (Media Center in my case) being loaded up with extra software and processes and I'm wondering if I should and, how to, install a new version of XP Pro or something similar? Thanks for reading... |

The Dell-pre-installed Xp Media Center is the same thing that Microsoft puts out...The extra stuff is what Dell adds...I wouldn't go out and spend $150 bucks for XP Pro when I had a working copy ......There is a utility out that auto unistalls the fluff...hang tight and I'm sure someone can remember the name of it...
Or you can just go into Add/Remove programs and unistall the things you don't want.

Sounds good, I'm going to download that and move it to my external hard drive with all the other things I want to save then do a system restore and start over. Thanks for the help.
