Folder Redirection Win2k3

I've been trying to setup folder redirection in a Windows 2003 Active Directory Environment. I set up a group policy for a few groups of people. I have an iSCSI array connected to the Terminal Services server. I can create a persons home directory in that drive just fine. However, I cannot get folder redirection to work. I am using the basic option and using a shared folder on that drive in which everybody has access to for now. I can manually point My Document folder to the drive but it will not do it on it's own. I've read through bunch of sites but most are just the same thing. Any ideas on why it wont create and redirect the folder?

Thanks
Jake

In the group policy: user config > windows settings > folder redirection. Right click my documents and enable basic redirection

\\servername\somefolder\somefolder\%username%

The trick is to use the %username% variable, so the folder you want to redirect to has to be the same as the username logon.

Ok I'm still having trouble.

Here how I have it set.

Setting: Basic

Target folder location:

Creat a folder for each user under the root path

Root path:
\\Tigerwin1\Home\%username%

I get an error - the specified target location is not valid.

Remove the %USERNAME% from the root path in the gpo.

The root path should be \\Tigerwin1\Home\

When the user log in in it will append the user name to the path and redirect the folder there.

Make sure that the user has a folder in the root path (\\Tigerwin1\Home\%USERNAME%) and has rights to it.

Great One- This is assuming the folder exist or are they created automatically. When I manually redirected it it created the folder but it doesn't seem to do it from the GP. Is it possible I have the permission set wrong? I have everyone full control, Domain Users full control.

I'd try it first with granting domain users full access to: \\Tigerwin1\Home\

If that works, then I'd see about restricting access. Possibly ready only to that root folder, and full permissions to their individual folder (though I'm not sure how this would be set automatically)

You need to maually create the users folder before hand when using gpo's
As far as permissions, all folders by default inherit their permissions from the root folder.
You can turn inheritance of on the home folder.
Give domain users list and read rights to the home folder.
Then give users full rights to their folder under the home directory
