OS change, keep serial?

Hi everyone, I'm glad to be here

My question is this: Can I switch my OS from Windows MCE to a plain XP Pro with the same CD key? Maybe it is a dumb question, but my understanding is the MCE is just Pro with some media extras, so I thought maybe.....

My reason for this is that I want to install some new hardware (an M-Audio Audiophile 192 soundcard) that is not driver-compatible with MCE.

Thanks for your attention.

I doubt it.

Just use the key that came with your xp pro cd.

Nope.

When you try to install the driver, does it ask you about driver signing? If so, you can bypass that and just continue to install without ill effects
