hello everyone, have just build new desktop and was going to load ubuntu 8.10 using downloaded iso cd. i get the ubuntu screen to choose install or try it, starts installing and just freezes so i tried my licenced xp home disk shows windows setup asks for raid-no starts loading files gets to (intel ide bus driver) and freezes, cleaned disk the same.
bios set to boot of cd/dvd drive, tried sony ide dvd drive same result specs are: asus drw-2014l1t 20x sata dvdrw 9new) seagate 250gb sata2 16mb st3250410as hard drive (new) 2x 512mb adata ddr2 800 1.8v (from old syst) 7600gt xfx graphics card (from old xp system) thermaltake 430w p/s(new) amd 64 3500+ am2 cpu(old system) asus m2n-sli deluxe am2 m/b(new) thermaltake mambo case panasonic 1.44 floopy(old xp system) just wanted to try complete install of ubuntu on its own not dual booting but cant seem to be able to load any system what could it be and ideas love to hear before hammer looks good. |

How do you have the hard drives set in bios? Are they set to raid, or ide?

hi shadowpr only 1 sata2 seagate hardrive shows up correctly under sata 1 and asus dvdrw into sata6 shows correct

set to ide. tried something else have second pc same motherboard unplugged its hardrive and plugged new seagate in started up and loaded ubuntu ok. so put seagate back into new pc and fired up started loading ubuntu and stopped so hardrive is ok so windows and ubuntu will not load has to be motherboard problem it is an oem one. may be bios related problem but how to update it i"m not sure.
