I've been seaching the web for an antivirus program (FREE) for XP but could not find except for Norton which is not free. Anyone have it? I am using inoculate for my older systems.

I tried Grisoft on my XP setup but it wouldn't have. However I had more success with this

http://www.avp.ru/download.asp

This is not the most user friendly software but it is free and does do the job. I think it is only the Personal PRO version that works with XP.

Ok, I've just tried this again and got a warning message about incompatability with XP and AVG but it let me go ahead and install anyway. Did you ignore this message or did you not receive it? If you didn't receive it then the problem only occurs with XP Pro and not Home edition

I didn't get any error message. It was a straight install. The only problem I had was getting the serial number sent to me!!

Ok, I've double checked the link and the current version for download is newer than the version I've got (6295 as opposed to 6281).

When I have downloaded and installed the newer version I will post back with the results. May be that they have fixed the problem.

Yep, the latest version works fine with XP Pro. No warnings, smooth install.
