Question Blue screen !

My friend laptop shows blue screen glimpse before the XP loads and went on a vicious circle of doing so even so a last known good configuration has been chosen. Is there a way to materialise or freeze it before it disappears so that we can read the message and pinpoint the error and track down the culprit ? Within window environment it possible to change it but the notebook can't make its way into window.
Thanks a lot.

Thierry.

Will it boot into Safe Mode? If so, Start-Right clik My Computer-Properties-Advanced-Under "Startup and Recovery" clik "Settings"-UNCHECK "Automatically Restart".

not important it can't boot into safe mode neither. Any contact with the xp screen restart the system as all. As you might be aware the blue screen does convey a message leading into the direct trroubleshoot. It's might be a hardware or a software issue. We are unable tell at this stage what is it. What's the lifespan of a laptop kindly maintained before going into a "surgical bed" ? Are there most laptop issues software than hardware ?
Thanks a lot.
