MBR - Create a new one - Tell if there is one
Hii guys,
I have a dual boot system. XP pro and and 2000. I can't boot anymore. It indicates it can not see the drive, prior to that it couldn't find the boot disk, now it just hangs when I attempt to boot off of it. Sometimes i can get the boot.ini up in that it gives me an option to pick which opporating system I want to boot. After that it just hangs. I can see and access the drive when i put it in an external case via USB. All the accounts are there. I can access that info if I change permisions but other than that the drive tests possitive for health. What can I doo to get this up and running?? The 2000 opperating system was not put on that drive. It was put on a second drive. A sata drive. That can be accessed too. can i see the mbr? can i put another one on it? what should i do? |

How can i check the MBR on an Ext. ATA drive
How can i check if there is a MBR on an external drive?
I put xp pro on a sata. I then put 2000 on a ata drive and my dual boot is ouddly set up. I am having trouble booting. The sata drive does not show up bootable in the bios unless the ata drive is in the system.... so. It is funky Any thoughts?? |

Your other thread seems to have more info. Maybe a moderator can merge the two:
