have you tried to uninstall the keyboard driver?

What about safe mode for the problem account?

Would it be a problem with the keyboard driver when it works fine with the other user account?
I did try safe mode, but same thing, unable to type there as well.
Should add, this is the wifes computer, she came home from "overseas" with it, and has no install disk.
She also had system restore shut off, so can't do that.
Just the fact that we can get into safe mode (F8) means the keyboard is working. As well as being able to type anywhere using the other account.

Try using a standard keyboard with the problem acct. Check in Control Panel for any changed settings.

Can't hookup a standard keyboard to this laptop, no place to plug it in.
Everything is control panel seems ok.

A USB keyboard will work in most laptops.

Finally got hold of a USB Keyboard, and "no go", still can't type in the one user account.

Create a new user account, get the data you need, then delete the corrupted user account.
