*** MS Paint Problem ***

Hi All:

The color bar for no reason started opening at the bottom rather than at the top where I've always kept it, and I can't seem to get it to stay at the top.

I checked Tools, Folder Options, and View to make sure that Remember Each Folder's View Settings was checked, and it was.

Can anyone tell me what to do to get it to stay where I want it?

OS: WinXP Pro with all updates, Version: 2002, Service Pack 3

Your input will be very much appreciated and thanks ahead of time !

Click and hold your mouse just above the top row of colors - you should see the whole toolbar become outlined. Drag it to the top till the outline gets smaller and drop it.

Hi glc:

That's the way I've done it all these years, but now it won't stay.

It will stay as long as I have MS Paint open and switch from picture to picture, but when I close MS Paint and reopen it or click on a BMP picture, it opens with the colors at the bottom again.

I've ran all of my Malware programs, no problems found.

Anyway, I'm sure there is a solution, but I have no idea what to try next.

this is just an idea, maybe it's too much for the situation:
try uninstalling it and then re-installing it...maybe this will enable you to move the bar again the way you are used to...
(and hi Bill, haven't been here for a number of years...good to see you're still active here)

Try holding the CTRL Key while you drag it.

You can't uninstall Paint - it's part of the OS.

Hi EzyStvy, Dan and glc:

Well I went to Add And Remove Programs, then Add/Remove Windows Components, double clicked on Accessories And Utilities, and Accessories and unchecked mspaint, it removed MS Paint. Then I rebooted and went back and checked the mspaint box, it put it back and after a few attempts the color box stayed where I wanted it, at the top.

Now I can either open MS Paint or click on a BMP file and it opens with the color box at the top.

Thank, Thanks, Thanks !!!

The CTRL holding didn't work, it wouldn't drop till I released the CTRL button.

Dan, I think I know who you are, e-mail me with your last name, I think it starts with a Q, am I right?
